The idea of still life photography is extremely conceptual, especially with a large audience.
Edward weston- Egg and Bone
As you can see in the picture it is an egg on top a bone from a seal it also looks like a seal and the egg is on top of it it fits very because It goes on the bone perfectly which means it like it has been made for this but of course it was not. There is significant weathering of the surface of the bone, with a dark area of damage down the centre, which further adds to the subject of symmetry. This rough texture is what personally drew my eye immediately , more specifically along the centre. The egg, with its positioning on top is an interesting choice- these two objects are almost echo a composition of a subject mounted by a less significant pedestal (in this case, the bone)- however, in this event, the more visually engaging object is the pedestal (bone). Furthermore, the use of the greyscale gradient from bottom to top complements the tones of the object- more so the egg, which has a strong shadow present on the edge along with a strong highlight in the upper centre. This monochrome style further draws the viewers attention to the variation of textures. This introduces ideas connected to the relationship between life and death- and the number of interpretations that can lead to philosophical ideologies. For example, the egg seems to be placed carefully on a butterfly- like structure. Seeing as the bone is a symbol of death, this composition can be a metaphor for the ideology of the relevance of death in order for life to flourish- there is a balance needed between the two. This empty space between the pale beginning and the dark bottom can be a representation of a liminal position between life and death- Is life simply an empty plane of mere being before death? connected to this metaphor is the belief of reincarnation, the belief of the existence of a cycle of birth, life and death.

Objects
When thinking about what objects I would take pictures of I thought about something that could reflect time and the unbraller was perfect for this as the colour is different at different places.
Tony Cragg
Tony Cragg is one of the world's foremost sculptors. "Constantly pushing to find new relations between people and the material world, there is no limit to the materials he might use, as there are no limits to the ideas or forms he might conceive." If you have a look at the picture to the right you can tell that he used a lot of colour to make a new object which you can see in the photo. He also uses different types of objects to make one big object which contrast a 'nomal' photo.

Dark room |
Photoshop |
I was inspired by Tony Cragg to make this photos. I did this by getting objects that are usually not used for photos are took them into the dark room and constructed a picture that I could change In photoshop as you can see on the left. I enjoyed this because It gives me the freedom to add whatever I want to the photos.
